Mood Board | Educate Yourself

A CONCEPTUAL ART, FASHION & LIFESTYLE MOOD BOARD


In Greece, we have so many different words to stand for education ("παιδεία", "μόρφωση", "εκπαίδευση"...), words that I couldn't translate into English. The only similar meaning that I found appropriate was culture.


My own translation of "education" is far, really far away from schooling. It is closer to becoming richer in knowledge and images, wiser in behaving with respect to yourself and others, and coming closer to the unknown, that to be art, cultures, and civilizations.


I am fortunate enough to have been born in a home full of books and a passion for arts and life itself. My parents used to bring me and my brother with them everywhere they were going - from theatres and museums to ballroom dances and city tours, even around my hometown Athens. Every day was and still is an opportunity to learn and grow.


Thus, I really believe in educating oneself through rich life experiences, even during the summer (maybe, especially during then!).

Personal Note: This is my favorite photo of this mood board. It reminds me of the hundreds of ballroom dances I've been to since I was a child, seeing women dancing with women, men dancing with men, not because of their sexual orientation but for the love of dancing itself. Gender did not matter as the art of living was above all.

And yes, Lakin Ogunbanwo, has become one of my favorite photographers as he depicts culture in such a unique way. Check him out!

Personal Note: When I was a child, I remember going to the theater with my aunt, super often. She knew exactly the seat she wanted to reserve in each theater. Most of the time, it was in the 4th to 6th row, the one in the corridor, as she wanted to have the actors at her eye level. Can you imagine how many times she's been there? Just for the records, she was born on 1912! She must have seen on stage countless great actors throughout her life.
